1. Heavy Contouring & ‘Fake’ Lashes – Natural Glow & Plum Accents
2014 was all about illusions. The illusion of fuller lips and eyebrows, more prominent cheekbones, mega-long, fanned out lashes, and in some cases, a completely different face.
While it was fun to sift through the astonishing before and after photos, it’s a relief to know that the 2015 trend is reverting back to a natural, more subdued look (as in, we get to show our actual faces again!). Think light bronzer, soft brows, imperfect (but still long) lashes, and different shades of plum.
2. Over-styled Curls & High Mega Buns – Air-Dried Boho Waves & Undone ‘Down-Dos’
Forget high maintenance! 2015 hair is all about that natural, air-dried texture and coming-undone styles that are windswept and slightly messy. And remember to get low with it! Low buns, low ponies, and very low maintenance looks are what it’s all about.
3. Bold Nail ‘Art’ & Talon Tips – Neutral Tones & Negative Space Manicures
This year is less about intimidation nails and more about delicate details. The colors, too, are toned down and understated. Guess you’ll have to save your bedazzling kit for another season…
4. Kitten Heels – Chunky Platforms
Who decided kitten heels were a good idea to begin with? Defy uncomfortable granny heels and embrace your punk rock side with this season’s hottest footwear trend.
5. Leggings – Maxi Skirts
Although leggings will never fully be out, the leggings-as-pants movement is taking a backseat to flow-y, high-waist maxis. Couple that with the perfect hat and you’ll be feeling Nicole Kidman classic in no time.
6. Stark Ombre – Subtle Baliage & Babylights
Can you sense a pattern? Ditch the drastic ombre and ask your stylist for soft, subtle highlights that beckon to the youthful days of summer vacation spent outdoors, when your only worry was missing the ice cream truck.
