We’ve all been there. That foggy moment when, after waking up ridiculously late, you have to choose between getting to work on time, but looking like barely alive, or getting there late but looking like a human being. But what about the third option? On time and looking fabulous. We’re here to tell you how.
Set yourself up to win
Always have an outfit put together and hanging somewhere, ready for a moment like this. A dress would be easiest, as there would be no time spent matching pieces together. If you’re not into dresses, throwing a cropped blazer and a statement necklace is an easy way to dress up an outfit and keep it low maintenance.
Keep your bag and keys by the door and not scattered around the house. Nothing is worse than being ready to walk out the door and not being able to find your keys.
Skip the full-blown beauty routine
Do a quick swipe of micellar water on a cotton pad instead of washing your face with a traditional cleanser. It’s quicker, gentler, and is actually more effective. I love Simple Micellar Water, which is available at most drugstores.
In lieu of foundation and lipstick, throw on a quick BB Cream like Estee Lauder Day Wear and a lip gloss like Makeup For Ever Plexi-Gloss. In addition to being a moisturizer, a BB cream will give you some coverage without taking away the dimension of your face, so you can skip blush and contour. A gloss means a quick swipe as you’re walking out the door instead of the 5 minutes in front of a mirror with your lipstick tube and lip liner. Using a brightening eyeliner like Nyx Wonder Pencil will give your eyes a bright and open appearance.
As for your hair, spraying some Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray will give your hair some volume while also acting like a dry shampoo and making limp and unwashed hair look fresh and gorgeous. It smells amazing too! No one will be the wiser.
Don’t forget to grab breakfast
Just because your day started off on the wrong foot doesn’t mean it needs to stay that way. Not eating will just make you sluggish. Grab a granola bar or a bagel on your way out the door and pray that someone at the office made some strong coffee.
