How to Prep Your Hair For Spring

Split ends, dry frizz, hat hair, load of tangles. Sound familiar? Yes, that is our hair after winter. If we want to solve the problem of our dry winter hair, we should figure out the reasons it got that way in the first place. Environmental factors such as wind, ice cold, rain and snow can make your hair brittle and dry. In addition, the hair style experts say that indoor heating is damaging to your hair as drying your hair with a hairdryer for around six hours.

Even though spring is knocking on our doors, we first have to solve our winter hair issue. Apart from giving you advice on how to get your hair back in shape after winter, we will also recommend you the latest spring haircuts and some spring hair accessories. So let’s share how to prep your hair for spring!

1. Conditioner

Since cold winters don’t naturally dry your hair, you must constantly use a hairdryer. However, the more you dry it, the more your hair will lose moisture. Because of this, you need to use a lot of conditioner during winter. Now, when spring is on your doorstep, you do not need so much of conditioner. It does not mean that you should stop using it, it only means that you should use it less of it.

2. Air-Drying

As temperature rises, your need for a hairdryer decreases. I recommend drying your hair as much as possible using a towel after washing. But do not comb your hair all the time or your hair will be knotty. Since you do not want your hair to be fluffy either, use products made for air-drying such as a wave cream or a curl cream. If your hair is straight, an oil product at your ends, then leave your hair to dry by itself.

3. Hair Treatments

After winter’s harsh weather leaving you hair brittle and dry, it’s time to indulge in a hair treatment to make your hair shiny and healthy again. These deep treatments are designed for damaged, dry, color treated, and curly hair. For best result, use for several weeks to make your hair healthy again.

4. Masks

Even though masks are another type of a hair treatment, I chose to mention them in a separate paragraph and I’ll tell you why. Apart from hundred types of store-bought masks, there are many homemade hair masks you may not be familiar with that are very easy to make and mostly made from products you already have in your kitchen.

5. Brightening Your Hair Color

Brightening you hair color is one of the most significant changes women make after winter. Since sun exposure will make your hair little brighter, this is a perfect time to lighten your hair a bit. If you do not want to make drastic changes, use homemade masks. Use ingredients you can find in your kitchen and which will lighten your hair naturally without damaging it. Homemade recipes are just perfect, don’t you agree?

6. Trimming

After a long winter season, I always recommend a hair trim. Even taking a little bit off will help you avoid split ends so your hair will be healthy again.

7. Spring Hairstyles

If you’re feeling more adventurous, spring is a great time to rejuvenate yourself with a new hairstyle. A few of my favorites include the classic bob, or an asymmetrical pixie cut with longer bangs and one side aligned with your eye. Women with soft facial features, tousled bangs are just the right thing. Think Scarlet Johansson’s choppy bob.

8. Spring Hair Accessories

Beatify your hair with flower crowns. If you like wearing a bun, a fresh flower is just a perfect accessory. If you do not like flower accessories, check out gilded combs. Enrich undone bun with flower combs. Accomplish orientalist style with turbans. If you lack time to make a proper bun, make a ponytail and enrich it with iridescent flowers.

Now learn how to: repair damaged hair.
