Shopping for an outfit during pregnancy is hard. Shopping for an event is even harder. Put the two and two together and you’ve got a nightmare situation. Throw in the fact that you’ll be the star of the show for that special occasion and it just goes off the charts into the “What the heck did I get myself into?” territory. Luckily, I’ve been there and done that and now I’m here to give you some fashion inspiration for your baby shower threads.
When it was time for me to figure out what I wanted to wear for my baby shower, I had about 10 websites open and searched for days. I was having trouble because I just didn’t know what I wanted. So I narrowed down my search with what I had in mind.
- I wanted it to be affordable
- I wanted to be able to wear it even after my pregnancy
- I wanted it to be a dress
- Because I wanted a dress, it had to be a maxi as an extra layer of defense to mosquitos and 3/4 sleeved or long sleeved (thanks, Zika virus!)
Your wants list may differ from mine and that’s okay because I found tons of options for any type of vibe you may want for that special day.

Rent The Runway
If you don’t want to commit to something in the long run, then this is the way you want to go. You can rent whatever your heart desires (whether you want a dress, a nice shirt, rompers, jumpsuits, accessories). It has prices for any budget. They send you two sizes of your choosing just to ensure you won’t be without something to wear. Their inventory is up-to-date with high end designers that are much too expensive to buy, but you’ve been dying to wear. If you’re thinking, “Well, it’s not very pregnancy oriented!”, think again. There is a search option for bump friendly clothes that helps guide you to what you can fit into during your pregnancy. It’s the perfect place to get what you want and you don’t have to worry about it growing mold in your closet from not wearing it ever again.
Pink Floral Printed V-Neck Chiffon Dress
Pink Blush Maternity
This store has such great, trendy options for those not into designer brands or those who want something a bit more permanent. It also has plus sizes for those who need them. There’s always a sale going on and they make it easy to search for baby shower outfits by just going to their ‘Baby Shower’ tab under ‘Maternity’. It can be a bit on the pricier side, but the quality of the pieces back up the price. Pink Blush Maternity is certainly a cult favorite between expectant mothers.

ASOS Maternity
ASOS is an awesome store in general, but it’s their maternity section that really impresses. I feel as though in terms of variety, ASOS Maternity takes the cake. There are so many options depending on the type of look you’re going for. Their outlet section isn’t terrible, either. Usually in an outlet/sale section of a store, I never have any luck with my size, but with ASOS, I’m usually always lucky when it comes to finding my size not sold out. Not to mention, they have a great beauty section if you’re looking for a one stop shop when shopping 😉
