Dan Hicks, a police officer in Raleigh, North Carolina, helped to guide a man off the edge of a bridge. He was called in to the scene at about seven p.m., told the man his name, and gently helped him back over the edge. He says his first instinct was to pull the man in for a much needed hug.
“He was getting that hug whether he wanted it or not,” Hicks said
Wow. It really looks like both of them needed a hug pretty badly after such a scary experience. Hicks said that he told the man “You’re okay. It’s over.” The man clung to the officer for several seconds before he was taken for medical attention. Officer Hicks was not aware that traffic cameras were recording the exchange, and did not even tell his wife what had happened.
He said “To me, it’s just a part of the job and something any one of us would have done.”
I’m not crying. It’s allergies
