As a 90s kid, I have a soft spot in my heart for mood rings. For those that don’t remember mood rings, they were the quintessential accessory of the 90s. It was a ring that was able to tell what “mood” you or your friends were in based on what color the ring changed to when it was put on- it was revolutionary. You could buy these mood rings anywhere from Claire’s to a gumball-type dispenser in the grocery store.

After some time, the mood-telling psyche came back and is just wacky enough to be featured as this week’s Wacky Trend Wednesday.
Introducing: Color Changing Lipstick
[second_adsense]
These lipsticks go on clear and react according to your body’s pH levels and temperature, this changing color. They are also shockingly long lasting with a guarantee to stay on your lips for 12 hours.
To my surprise, this trend is not new. It has been in and out of cosmetic stores since the 1930s. Its ability to change colors is due to the FDA approved dye used in many cosmetics: Red 27. This dye reacts with the moisture on your lips and your skin tone to deliver a pink-berry color.
