Sometimes I sit down at my laptop to look for inspiration on YouTube. It doesn’t matter if it’s makeup, hair, or clothes; I always get sucked into a playlist or binge-watch a YouTuber I find particularly interesting. These women are fascinating, and knowing their beauty stuff is their job. YouTube is what fashion magazines used to be, except instead of a few articles, you have access the hundreds of thousands of styling videos. Here are 5 YouTubers that own the fashion scene.
Hey Claire
Claire Marshall is a lifestyle vlogger based out of LA. Her channel, HeyClaire, consists of expertly edited makeup tutorials, outfit lookbooks, and hair how-to’s set to music. Hers are among the most fun to watch; each video takes you on a whirlwind that’s just long enough to teach you what you need to know, but never long enough for you to get bored. Her style is edgy but wearable, perfect for you beauties who love the to wear all black but aren’t down with “bad girl” vibes. Watching Claire is like watching your best friend: When she is not posting tutorials, you can watch her backstage at New York Fashion Week, or jet-setting around the world. It’s also worth mentioning that she has the world’s most adorable cat, Bruce.
Chriselle Lim
Chriselle Lim is the number one fashion expert in all of YouTube, having spent years as a wardrobe stylist. Like Claire Marshall, Chriselle’s lookbooks are also set to music and clutter-free, but where Claire is upbeat and fun, Chriselle’s videos are laid-back and soothing. She owns at classic, effortless fashion and I truly feel like she could have a second career doing high fashion black and white commercials.
Mr. Kate
Kate Albrecht is a jewelry designer and metalsmith. In addition to her brand, Mr. Kate, she also runs a fantastic YouTube channel also called Mr. Kate. Her approach to fashion is a breath of air in a world of designer handbags and red-soled heels. She can show you how to DIY up-cycled clothes and find the best pieces at a thrift store–plus, she shares awesome tips and tricks in her adorable lookbooks. If you love colorful and funky, Mr. Kate is your girl.
Clothes Encounters
Jenn Im is the mastermind behind the channel Clothes Encounters. She serves up fashion advice, outfit dairies, and monthly favorites with the sunniest attitude of any YouTuber I have ever seen. Her channel is neatly organized into themed playlists, so if you’re looking for “ways to wear” a certain piece or seasonal fashion advice, you can find it quickly on Clothes Encounters. She also has a pretty dope mobile app.
The Chic Natural
Kim is the curator of The Chic Natural, and she has the most beautiful smile I think I’ve ever seen. Her channel is a gold mine of outfit inspiration beauty tips and all-around chic– true to the name. I can get lost in her playlists, and I am one in nearly 850,000 subscribers. I recently watched a blooper video that had me laughing for the rest of the day. If you’re looking for elegant style and up-to-date on current trends, this channel is what’s up.
