Fashion trends are a funny thing. One day, everyone seems to be sporting the hot, new trend and the next day, you wouldn’t be caught dead wearing it. Sometimes those, then, god-awful trends return to the fashion-sphere and hesitantly, you decide to wear them… again. Get ready for a season of nostalgia; we’re going to take you on a visit to your childhood closet.

1. Choker Necklaces
These necklaces were worn by chic pre-teens and red-carpet celebs alike. The plastic ones were sold at Claire’s in sets so wearing more than one at a time was almost a requirement. The brighter and flashier they were, the better. This time around, however, chokers are mainly being worn in a Boho-inspired fashion, meaning less bright colors and more neutral earth-tones.

2. Jelly Shoes
If you were a girl in the 90s these shoes probably have a special place in your heart. They came in clear, colored, and sometimes glittery varieties. But any way you sport them, they’re totally awesome. Back by popular demand, it’s safe to say these jelly shoes are here to stay.

3. Overalls
The nostalgia will hit when you step each foot into these bad boys. Your childhood staple is back and is now looking chic and adorable. Nowadays worn by stars like Alessandra Ambrosio, they’re hardly the ones you wore as a child on the playground at recess.

4. Plaid
Plaid needs no introduction. In fact, some could argue that it never went out of style! However, we haven’t seen plaid this prominent since Alicia Silverstone waltzed around her high school campus in “Clueless”. Whether you wear it as a coat, a headband, or a flannel around your waist, you’re bound to be sporting some sort of plaid this season.

5. Parachute Pants
Ahh parachute pants, the staple for any closet in the 80s and 90s. When I think of parachute pants, I immediately think of MC Hammer busting a move… not the focal point of a chic dinner ensemble. But, like it or not, parachute pants are blowing up in a big way. You can now spot them almost anywhere you shop in a variety of patterns, colors, and fabrics.
