So there you are, browsing the lipstick section at the drugstore. You find a color that you think looks good, but you can never be sure until you try it on. So you it to the register and fork out 7.99 only to find out the color is perfect, but the formula looks like complete trash. Now you’ve got another lipstick for the graveyard drawer; where once a lipstick goes in- it never comes out. Here is a list of what I consider the best drugstore lipsticks, so you don’t have to buy more crap.
Nyx….everything.
If you have ever tried Nyx lip colors, you already know what I’m going to say. Not only does this brand have the best range of colors, including all sorts of pastels in the Macaroon Collection and even darks in the Wicked Lippies Collection; they also have them in a ton of different formulas. If you’re looking for a matte lipstick- there are no less than three different collections to choose from. Nyx lip colors are always comfortable to wear. Even their liquid mattes, like the Soft Matte Lip Creams, The Lip Lingerie, and the Liquid Suede Lipstick feel like you’re not even wearing anything. Last but not least- the lip liners are to die for, and retractable.
Maybelline Creamy Matte and Color Sensational Lipstick
One of my favorite lipstick is Sin-A-Mon, from the Maybelline Color Sensational line. I love wearing these because they feel moisturizing on the lips, but wear off evenly through the day. When fall rolls around, I love the Creamy Matte collection. Matte lipsticks can be hard to pull off; but Maybelline makes it look easy.
Milani Color Statement Lipsticks
The Milani Color Statement Lipsticks are definitely a favorite, in spite of the gold packaging. There is so much variety, pigmentation is A+, and I always get complimented wearing them. Added Bonus: They smell like watermelon!
Jordana Easy Lip Liners
I wish the color selection for the Jordana Easy Liners was a little better, because I adore the formula! Sometimes I use these to fill in my entire lip and just leave it at that. The shade Rock N’ Rose is the perfect grungy 90’s grunge color, without being straight up brown. I carry it with me all the time. It doesn’t hurt that they’re so inexpensive!
Wet N Wild Megalast
The Megalast lipsticks from Wet N Wild are a cult favorite, not only because they’re awesome, but because they’re literally two dollars. The packaging leaves something to be desired, but c’mon! They’re two dollars!
Rimmel Kate Moss Line
Everything about the Kate Moss Line from Rimmel is exceptional. The colors, the scent, the wear time. I plan to own each shade before I die. I’m going to be “getting the London look” at every opportunity.
L’Oreal Colour Riche Collection and Infallible Lip 2 Step
I love each of these for different reasons. The Colour Riche collection was inspired (and I think designed) by their celebrity counter parts, which makes it easy to determine whether or not you think it would look good on you. Very clever move, L’Oréal. The Infallible Lip Two Step is pretty much bullet-proof. I love the shade ‘Neverending Nutmeg’.
So, those are my favorites! Did I miss any of yours? Snap them to me @poiseandpurpose!
