May for me has been a very low maintenance month. I have been wearing less makeup, which is only natural in this ungodly Florida heat. With less makeup comes a lot more focus on skincare, so we’ll start there.
If you haven’t heard me liken my eyelids to an elderly mans elbow skin then you must not have been watching me for very long. I have SUPER wrinkly eyelids. Partly because I have protruding eyes and party because I have very dry skin no matter how much water I drink or lotion I slather on. Eye cream helps, but nothing has helped my little fine lines as much as NIOD Fractionated Eye Contour Oil.
I use this AM and PM, wait a few minutes, and then apply my eye cream over top to lock it in. I even put it on the little wrinkle between my eyebrows, and on the sides of my mouth, for good measure. It only took a few days of use to notice a significant difference.
I spend a lot of time looking at my own eyes, given that I do eye makeup and take photos of it nearly every single day. In HD photos, every imperfection is GLARING, and I don’t feel like I look like I am much older than I am thanks to this serum.
Over the last month I have been really feeling glowy skin, a glossy eye and a bright lip. I think it looks fresh and summery. It’s low maintenance, takes much less time than having to blend out several different eyeshadows, and if you end up sweating a little bit it just adds to the look.
This Glam Glow Glowstarter Moisturizer in Pearl Glow smells amazing and leaves a ethereal glow on your skin that is gorgeous on it’s own but also adds to any foundation or tinted moisturizer you layer on top. I use it in combination with my Nars Tinted Moisturizer that has been on my monthly favorites list several times in the past.
This combinations makes your skin look natural and healthy, even up close and around the edges of your nose where I find are the places foundation tends to cake up.
I have been reaching for cream products a lot to keep with the effortless look. The Bite Beauty Multi Sticks have been rolling around in the bottom of my purse for the last two months, I mainly use them for a rosy blush, but also use them on my eyes and lips for a pretty monochromatic look. I have the shades Cashew and Gelato.
Since I am a fan of sunscreen, I don’t often get much of a tan. Nudestix Nudies in Bondi Bae is the perfect tone for a natural bronze. Not too orange or ashy, blends out easily with fingers, and stays put. It even has a little brush on the other end that makes it ridiculously easy to use if you’re out. I use it in the hollows of my cheeks, and the perimeter of my jaw and hairline to make my skin look a little less dead and to help my highlight pop.
I have reunited with my Pat McGrath Skin Fetish in Lust 004 this month. Sometimes I wear it on it’s own or underneath my Melt Digital Dust Highlight in the shade Stargazer. Each of these give a stunning natural glow on their own that doesn’t look sparkly or glittery.
You can’t get your hands on Skin Fetish 004 because it was limited edition, but Nudestix Nudies in Illuminaughty, or Milk Highlight stick in LIT would be a good substitute.
When I am not using the Bite Multi stick or one of my cream highlighters on my eyes, I have been sweeping Colourpop Nillionaire over my entire lid and patting Glitterati in the center. With just mascara or a light pair of lashes I can go the whole day on just five minutes of effort.
I have been loving Esqido Silhouette lashes during the day, and if I’m going out, the style Nebula really amps up the look and makes it look like I put in a lot more effort than I actually did. You can use the code ‘PURPOSE’ to get a discount at checkout.
I like to take advantage of my bright lip colors over the summer. My favorites are Nyx Indie Flick or Bite’s Kimchi patted on with my fingers for a bitten look, sometimes with a little Lancome Juicy Shaker in Lemon Explosion on top.
If you want to go really bold, directly from the tube or with a lip brush. If you prefer something a little less eye catching but still gorgeous, I’ve been really into MAC’s Creme in Your Coffee. It’s reminiscent of Bite’s Pepper, but sheerer, shinier, and more brown than pink.
Tayler and I have been binge watching House of Cards on Netflix every night, and I double down by doing some sheet masks and keeping my lips looking nice with the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask. I find that if I put it on in the beginning of an episiode, it’s absorbed enough to not be super sticky when I go to bed.
