I am so guilty of wearing jeans and a T-shirt every day. I would say that 85 percent of my closet is made up of those two items. Luckily, for years designers have been dressing up this no-brainer outfit and I have been paying close attention. When it comes to dressing up jeans and a T-shirt, here are some things to keep in mind.
Soften the Look
Balance out the tomboyish outfit by going all out with your hair and makeup. Try soft romantic curls, a high loose pony, or a messy milkmaid braid. You want to keep the hairstyle soft and feminine. For makeup, try a classic winged eyeliner, a brown slightly smoky eye, or a statement lip color like coral or red.
Create Layers
Elevate a causal outfit by adding a printed cardigan or a fitted blazer in a complementary color. Try belting a flannel around your waist to create a sexy silhouette and give your outfit more shape. If weather permits, a comfy scarf is a quick way to add some character and you can tie it to your bag if you get too hot.
Add Elegant Details
Try tucking your shirt into the front of the jeans and leaving the back loose. Add a skinny belt with gold or silver hardware to really take it to the next level. Speaking of belts: If you’ve decide to layer with a cute cardigan, fasten a belt around your waist for an hourglass figure. Add some statement jewelry like a sparkly set of earrings or a chunky necklace to create a fun but sophisticated look.
Amp Up Your Shoe Game
Kick it up a notch with come cute boots or roll up the cuffs of your jeans and strap on a pair of sexy heels. This type of outfit screams “off-duty model.” Who doesn’t want to look like a model?
Add Prints and Metallics
Patterns, florals, or animal prints are a quick way to add some life to a outfit, and jeans and a T-shirt are no exception! You can pair a print with a solid brightly-colored shirt, scarf, or sweater to really liven it up. Sleek metallic belts or flats add a little flash and complement any color.
