As fun as it is to be unique and embrace scents, flavors, and styles that aren’t as well-loved, the reality is, most of us are suckers for cozy fall fragrances.
It’s hard to pinpoint just what it is about those spiced, sweet, warm scents that gets us every year, but they have some kind of inescapable appeal. They bring back memories of playing in the changing leaves as a child, and help us feel festive as we head to pumpkin patches or a local coffee shop for a pumpkin-flavored drink (yes, it may seem “basic,” but we all love those PSLs).
As summer turns to fall, we’re already setting our DVRs to record “Hocus Pocus,” buying fall candles, and stocking up on some of our favorite fall fragrances. Here are our picks this season:
[offer]
Favorite Hand Cream: Black Cherry Merlot, Bath & Body Works
This scent is sweet but realistic, like you’re drinking a dessert red wine. The scent is rich enough that it’s perfect for fall/winter, but it’s still relatively light and fruity. The cream itself is thick and works well for chapped winter hands without leaving an oily residue on the skin.
Favorite Body Butter: Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter in Apple Crisp, Sephora
This cream is rich and decadent, just like the scent. Apple crisps are perfect fall treats, especially if you like to celebrate the season by apple picking. The sweet, slightly buttery scent of the lotion captures this dessert perfectly.
Favorite Perfume: Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir
This is a sexy scent, perfect for a night out one crisp, fall evening. It’s the scent you wear while sporting a dark red dress and red lip, and it has a bit of a smoky smell on the skin. Most people describe it as a little bit woodsy, a little bit spicy, though the Jo Malone website categorizes it more as a “fruity/floral” fragrance. This is definitely not a light summertime smell, but it’s perfect for the colder months.
Favorite Cologne Spray: Demeter Fragrance Library Pumpkin Pie
You can spray this anywhere you’d like, but it’s also wearable since it leans more cinnamon than distinctly pumpkin. It’s not too sweet, and best of all, it’s long lasting. Not that you need the help, but one study also found that the smell of pumpkin pie increases the arousal level in men by forty percent.
Favorite Overall Fall Scent For Home And Personal Use: Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, Bath & Body Works
You can’t go wrong with this spiced pumpkin scent that essentially smells like Halloween and Thanksgiving rolled into one. Whether you prefer your home, or your body to smell like a sweet pumpkin treat is up to you. Bath & Body Works has lotions, soaps, candles, and more in this fragrance.
