We get it…leave art to the artists.
However, you don’t need a paintbrush or an expensive canvas to create great art — you just need your nails and a little bit of DIY imagination. Even if you don’t possess an artsy bone in your body, you can easily recreate some very pretty and creative nail art designs in the comfort of your own home. Plus, all of the supplies you need are probably already waiting for you in your desk drawer or closet!
So break out those bobby pins, Band-Aids, and sponges — we’re going to get crafty with nail art.

Band-Aid French Tips
Creating French-tipped nails at home may seem hard, but it doesn’t have to be! The task is much easier when you use a Band-Aid as a guideline. After you paint your nails with a clear base coat, press the curved edge of the Band-Aid just below the tip of your nail. Paint your tips your desired color (white is most traditional, but don’t be afraid to try different shades!), let it dry, and then peel back the Band-Aid to reveal a crisp, clean curve. Paint over your nails once more with clear or pale pink polish and you’ve got a quick, easy French manicure.
This tip also works with round reinforcement stickers, so feel free to use those too!

Masking Tape Hearts
You don’t need to be an artist to draw on your nail. Cut a small heart shape out of masking tape (the easiest way to do this is to first fold the tape in half) and press it against your nail. Fill in the heart with nail polish – or glitter! – and let it dry. Peel the tape back to reveal the heart.

Bobby Pin Dots
Start by unbending a bobby pin so that it will be easier to hold. Pour a small amount of nail polish on a dry work surface like construction paper, and dip the bubbled end of the bobby pin into the polish. Gently press the bobby pin onto your nail and repeat all over for an awesome polka dot design.

Ombre Sponge Nails
To create a cool ombre nail gradient, apply nail polish to a damp eyeshadow sponge applicator and blot the tips of your nails with the sponge. Gently rock the sponge from side to side for best results. Be sure to apply a fresh coat of polish to the sponge for each nail.
